On Monday, April 28th, Charles William Buck peacefully passed away from his battle with illnesses and went to be with the Lord, Our Savior.
Charles (Chuck) grew up in the Hilliard community, originally an “Amlin kid” and was a graduate of Hilliard High School, Class of 1970. He served as a member of the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves from 1971 until 1977. Mr. Buck helped his dad and brother start the family business, Buck & Sons Landscape Service, Inc., in 1972, where he retired as President in 2017. Mr. Buck graduated from Franklin University where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration. Chuck served on the Hilliard City School’s Board of Education from 1985 until 1993, serving as President in 1989 and 1993. He also served as Hilliard’s representative on the Tolles Career and Technical Center Board of Education. Mr. Buck served on the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce Board for 8 years, where he was President for three. Chuck loved his time being an assistant football coach for the Hilliard Optimist Youth Football League. He was a member of the Hilliard Music Boosters, where he additionally served as President for two years. He was an active and supportive member of the Kiwanis Club of Hilliard and the William R. Schnug Memorial Post of the American Legion. Chuck was appointed to the Norwich Township Board of Trustees in 2000, elected in 2002 and has served until his passing. He additionally served on the Franklin County Agriculture Society Board for a number of years, where he also served as President. Chuck has received the Galbraith Award for community service, as well as the Sam Walton award for local business leaders. Chuck was a devoted Buckeye and while he had an opinion when times were rough, he never wavered in his love for the Scarlet and Gray. Chuck truly adored his family and would do anything for them. Chuck loved his family, friends and community and always believed you should support and give back to what you love.
Charles (Chuck) was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles W. Buck and Marianna (Liggett) Buck. As well as his father-in-law William Schnug and mother-in-law, Patricia (Williams) Schnug.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary (Schnug) Buck. His daughters and son in laws, Mandy (Jay) Rhoades and Emily (Ladd) Gabriel. And the light of his life grandson, Charles (Chase) Gabriel. Chuck is also survived by his brother, Steve (Jackie) Buck and brother and sisters in law, Bill (Pam) Schnug and Lesa Schnug. He is also survived by numerous loving nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 at 11 am.
