Catherine Opal Anderson

November 15, 1974 — March 10, 2022

Catherine Opal Anderson passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH at the age of 47. She was born in November 15, 1974 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the first child of Rodney and Mary Anderson. She loved being a big sister to her three younger siblings, always supporting them, organizing activities, and laughing with (and sometimes at) them. Cathy always prioritized family and went out of her way to keep in touch, even with more distant relatives – bringing the family closer together. She loved to travel and often paired her trips with visits to relatives across the country and even to her sister and brother-in-law in London, England. But her favorite vacations were always trips to the beach, especially the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

A 1993 Dublin Coffman High School graduate, Cathy earned degrees in Political Science and German from Kent State University. She later completed a paralegal certificate at Capital University. While at Kent State, Cathy joined the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She loved this sisterhood and remained active as an alumnae member.

Cathy was proud of earning her Gold Award as a Girl Scout.  She was also passionate about music and theater, acting in school plays and playing the clarinet in the Dublin Coffman High School Marching Band, and remained active with the Alumni Marching Band. Her love of the arts was lifelong, as she continued to play the clarinet in the Dublin Wind Symphony and loved going to the theater– especially Broadway musicals. Cooking was one of her favorite ways to show her love for others. An avid dog lover, Cathy enjoyed caring for her beloved dog Suzy-Q. But most of all, Cathy cherished her time with her son Zac – cheering him on at sports, taking him on vacations across the country, and sharing her love of life with him.

Catherine was preceded in death by her grandparents Edward and Eleanor Krasevec and John and Margaret (Peg) Anderson. She is survived by her son Zaccaria, her parents Rodney and Mary, her siblings Brian (husband to Genevieve, father of Jackson and Ethan), Phillip, and Frances Norona (wife to Ivanhoe), Aunt Suzanna Ritter, uncles James and Jon Anderson, and several cousins and extended family. Her love of life and family was enormous and set an example for us all. She will be missed immensely by so many people.

Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00p.m. MONDAY at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722.  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00a.m. TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2022 at ST. BRENDAN THE NAVIGATOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 4475 Dublin Road, Hilliard, OH 43026 with Father Frank Brown, Celebrant.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
