Carl Hemmeler, III

Carl Hemmeler III, born February 19, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, surrounded by his wife, Jane, his three children, and his devoted dog, Gracie. He was 77 years old and had made his home in Littleton, Colorado. Carl was the son of Doris Siler and Carl Hemmeler. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and went on to build a meaningful career as a Realtor and educator/administrator for Columbus State Community College. Family was always at the center of Carl’s world. He was deeply devoted to the people he loved, and that devotion showed in the everyday ways he lived his life. Carl was predeceased by his first wife, and high school sweetheart, Sharon (Aue) Hemmeler, his parents, and his sister Phyllis. He is survived by his wife, Jane Brautigam; his children, Amy Morris, Phil (Jen) Hemmeler, and Megan (Sean) Whittemore; his grandchildren, Kayla Morris, Lukas (Maddy) Morris, Logan Morris, Madelyn Hemmeler, Avery Hemmeler, Brooklyn Whittemore, Landon Whittemore, and Evelyn Whittemore; his great-grandchildren, Harper Morris, Hayden Morris, and Ava Morris; his siblings, Linda (Wes) Shinn, Cheryl (Brian) Breece, and Curt (Tracey) Hemmeler; his step-children, Jessica Garrow (Ted Parenti) and Robert (Shireen) Garrow; and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great friends. Carl was known for his humor and for the warmth he brought into the lives of others. He loved animals, enjoyed gardening, photography, camping, and traveling. He found great joy in bringing home a new recipe or interesting find from his travels. He was always the first to try and cheer someone up who was going through a hard moment. Carl enjoyed serving the community as a member of the Franklin County Fair Board, the Hilliard Lions Club, and as an usher for the Hilliard United Methodist Church. Carl was also a devoted sports fan. He cheered faithfully for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team, and the Denver Broncos. These loyalties were part of the fabric of who he was, and they reflected his spirited and affectionate nature. Carl’s life was marked by connection, loyalty, and a steady kind of love that stayed with those around him. He will be remembered as a man who cared deeply, laughed easily, and held close the people and creatures he loved. His memory lives on in his family, in the stories they share, and in the many ways his presence shaped their lives. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
