Bruce Thomas

Richard "Bruce" Thomas, age 76, of Hilliard, entered into the eternal presence of God on Friday, September 3, 2010. Bruce was a member of Central Ohio Anglers & Hunters Club, a life Member of National Rifle Association and a long-term member of John Birch Society. He was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church - The Church at Mill Run. Bruce formerly served as adjunct instructor for mathematics at Columbus State Community College and successfully ran a paint contract business. Previously, he served as plant metallurgist at the Timken Company. Bruce was a Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio and a Past Chairman of American Society of Metals, Columbus Ohio Chapter, He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Master of Science in Metallurgical Engineering.

He is preceded in death by parents Cdr. Richard S. & Thora Thomas, of VA. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Sharon (Roth) Thomas; sons Richard J. (Emily) Thomas of OH, Robert B. Thomas of FL; sister Martha (William) Bradley of VA; brother James M. (Martha) Thomas III of TX, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. Jay & Susan Richardson of OH; grandchildren R. George Thomas, Joy A. Thomas of OH; nieces, nephews & loving friends.

Bruce will always be remembered for his commitment to family, country and the Christian faith.

A memorial service will be held 11:30am, Thursday September 9 at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church - The Church at Mill Run with Pastor Eric Waters officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and Pregnancy Decision Health Center, Columbus, OH.
