Betty Cowan

Mar 3, 1938 — Oct 8, 2026

Betty (Dymond) Cowan, 88, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026.

Born on March 3, 1938, in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, Betty was the daughter of the late Cora Irene (Evans) Dymond and Floyd Calvin Dymond.

Betty shared 66 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Edmund H. “Sonny” Cowan, who preceded her in death in December 2022. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendship, travel, and cherished memories.

Betty and Sonny lived in Arlington, Virginia, and South Plainfield, New Jersey, where they raised their four children. They later retired to Florida before moving to Dublin, Ohio, in 2020.

Betty had a wonderful sense of humor, a creative spirit, and a gift for making friends wherever she went. She loved crafting, celebrating holidays, camping, and traveling. Throughout her life, she was an active volunteer, serving as a Girl Scout leader, PTA president, and president of the Episcopal Church Women. During her years in Florida, she enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Society and proudly served as Queen Mother.

Betty is survived by her four children: Robin (Bob) Lawton, Dana Milligan (Laura Darwin), Wendy (Corey) Epley, and Edmund Cowan Jr. (Pam); five grandchildren: Jessica Milligan, Molly Milligan, Steven Lawton, Corinne Cowan, and Blair Cowan; and two great-grandsons, Xavier and Atticus.

She is also survived by her sister, Doris, and brother, Floyd. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Rolands and Nancy Dymond Hackett.

Betty will be remembered for her laughter, playful personality, love of family, and the many friendships she formed throughout her 88 years.

A Celebration of Life honoring Betty will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Dublin, Ohio.

For family and friends unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed on the church’s YouTube channel. The livestream will appear approximately 10 minutes before the service begins, around 12:50 p.m.
