Barry J. Brown

Barry J. Brown, affectionately known as "Bear," passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2025, at Riverside Hospital, at the age of 66.

Born on March 4, 1959, Barry graduated from Grove City High School in 1977. He dedicated over three decades to a career with UPS, earning the prestigious Circle of Honor 25-Year Safe Driving Award in recognition of his commitment and professionalism.

Barry found joy in spending time at the family’s lake house and looked forward to his second fishing trip in Alaska. He had a deep appreciation for travel and coin collecting and cherished his beloved chocolate lab, Bella. Barry also enjoyed ballroom dancing and took lessons with his wife.

Barry was a devoted spouse to Lisa Whisner-Barnes and a proud parent to three sons: Ryan, Brad (Ashley), and Scott. He is also remembered by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Bev Neal (Greg) and Barb Pendleton (Bob); nephew Joe Taylor (Janice); niece Christy Brown; great-nephews Wyatt and Grant; and grandchildren Rowan and Asher. Extended family includes Jack and Carol Barker as well as Lisa’s children, Lee, Carla, and Madison.

Barry was preceded in death by their father Frank Brown; mother Donna Karshner-Brown; brother Brian Brown; and Jackie Brown.

Known for his ability to fix anything with precision, Barry was always ready to lend a helping hand. His boisterous laugh left a lasting impression on those around them. A member of New Beginnings Church of God in Hilliard, Barry embraced his faith with dedication.

Barry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort and strength to all who mourn his passing.

Showing hours will be at TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722 on MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2025 from 4pm-6pm with the Service beginning at 6pm. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held following the service at the home of the Brown family for food and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send perennial plants for Barry’s memorial garden or please donate to Lake Erie Labrador Retriever Rescue (https://www.lelrr.org).
