Barbara "Bobbie" Young

Barbara “Bobbie” Young, age 76, Of Hilliard, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026. She was born May 2, 1949, to the late Edward and Jean Carroll. Bobbie graduated Hilliard High School, class of 1967.

Bobbie was a true pioneer and dedicated servant to her community throughout her remarkable career in emergency medicine. She was the first female paramedic with the Norwich Township Fire Department, paving the way for others to follow. Passionate about education and safety, she served as a First Aid instructor with the American Red Cross and as the First Aid Supervisor for Ohio State football games, for many years. Bobbie also played a vital role as the Medical Coordinator for the Columbus Marathon and served in the Riverside Emergency Room for more than two decades.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Carliss Jean (Young) Carroll. Brother Edward Jr. Sister, Carol McDaniel and granddaughter Elizabeth Poehler. She is Survived by her husband, Russell Young, Children, Allen (Cara) Young, Pamela (John) Renner, Kristy (Scott) Poehler, Scott (Sherri) Young and Rick (Emily) Riley. Siblings, Donna (Robert) Johnson, Lu Ann Dougherty, Kathy (Brian) Herbert, Thomas (Diane) Carroll, Michael (Sue) Carroll. 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Family invites friends to join them for a visitation and celebration of life in Bobbie's honor on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026.  The visitation will begin at 3:00PM and end at 4:30PM for the service to begin immediately after at 4:30PM.
