Anna Gallagher Rice

Anna Gallagher Rice, 75, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 28, 1951, in Budapest, Hungary, Anna’s early life was shaped by courage and resilience. In 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, she, along with her parents and sister, fled their homeland in search of safety and freedom. They arrived in the United States in early 1957, first settling in Wheeling, West Virginia, before eventually making their home in the Columbus, Ohio area. Anna was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Hudak; her father, Mihaly Hudak; her sister, Marika Csaki; and her nephew, Jimmy Csaki. She is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Phillip Rice; her loving children, Anna (Chris) Greiner and Lisa Roberts (Stephen Stephenson); her cherished grandchildren, Taylor Halstead, Kyler Collins, Ashleigh Farley, and Allison Sollars; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Roman Halstead, Elijah Halstead, Harper Halstead, and Eden Sollars. She also leaves behind many extended children, grandchildren, family members, and dear friends who were touched by her love. Anna retired from Giant Eagle, where she dedicated many years of hard work. Outside of her career, she found joy in the simple but meaningful things in life. She loved to dance and sing, and she had a truly beautiful voice that brought happiness to those around her. Above all else, Anna’s greatest love was her family. She was deeply devoted, fiercely passionate in her beliefs, and endlessly kind and giving. She would do anything for the people she loved, and her presence was a constant source of strength, comfort, and love. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she built, and the memories that will be cherished forever. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St, Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral services will take place Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service. All are invited to a luncheon reception following the graveside service at Cypress Wesleyan Church, 377 Alton Darby Creek Rd, Galloway, OH 43119. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
