Alan C. Pauley, age 83, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with melanoma.
Alan was born on January 1, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, to John and Verna (Mikita) Pauley. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Youngstown University and then continued his education receiving a master’s degree in Public Health from UCLA. Alan was a U.S. Army veteran where he served in the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam, Alan started his career in hospital administration where he worked for 30 years. Instead of retiring, Alan decided to return to school and obtain his nursing home administrator license to continue his career for the next 10 years.
As a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, Alan is an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and during his professional career he was a member of numerous health care organizations. Alan was also an avid reader of murder mystery series.
Alan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Flesse) Pauley and his daughters, Monica (Jeff) Watkins and Jennifer Pauley (Shawn Beyer). He was also the proud Papa to his cherished grandchildren Brian Watkins, Harrison Beyer and Hudson Beyer. He is proceeded in death by his parents John and Verna Pauley and brother Jac Pauley.
Alan’s family invites you to a visitation from 5:00pm-6:00pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at St. Brendan the Navigator Church, 4475 Dublin Rd., Hilliard, Ohio. Burial will take place immediately following the mass at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Kobacker House.
The family extends their gratitude to the hospice team of Ohio Health Compassus and Kobacker House who cared for him and treated him like family in his final days.
